Potty training problem with 3 year old dog?

My 3 year old dog is very good about going to the “potty” and always has been.
When we take him out, he usually goes. We take him out on a schedule, usually 9am, 2-3pmish, then 9-10pmish, and a almost every day. But sometimes when we take him out on this schedule (that he’s been doing the exact…

Would you be able to follow a schedule like this for your trips to the bathroom? Doubt it. Dogs, like people, sometimes have to go at different times. You need to listen to what he’s telling you. He’s doing what you have taught him, he’s letting you know when he has to go out and it’s up to you to listen and let him out. Don’t you ever have to go in the middle of the night, or when you go on a trip and everyone is asked if they’ve gone to the bathroom but you don’t have to but five minutes later it’s like stop the car or I’ll pee my pants? Be a bit more patient and understanding and he won’t have accidents on a regular basis.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I’d suggest you https://bitly.im/aLWig

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Crate training. Fast before she gets bad habits. Like keep her in a 3 ft. x 3 ft. area and take her outside often. Give her treats outside and praise her when she potties.

Good Golly, can you get by only going three times a day? I’m in the biffy three times before noon! I’m not surprised the dog is having accidents. If the dog asks to go out, take him out! I’m amazed he hasn’t had a UTI yet.

Good luck!

If he needs to go out he needs to go out.

My lab who is 4 or 5 years old (estimate he’s a rescue) and my 2 year old mali on occasion need to go out at odd hours. The most recent was 2:30 in the morning, my lab INSISTED he had to go out and woke me up. I didn’t make him wait, I drug my butt outta bed and took him potty. He did his business then went back to bed.

If your dog needs to go out your dog needs to go out. You’ll either need to take him out or deal with the mess.

well i think its wrong to only give him certain times to potty if he needs to go he needs to go and should be let out to do his thing no matter what time it is…if he wants outside let him outside..i mean your making him go from 3 till 9 thats a long time to make him wait…maybe you should listen to your dog instead of him listening to you
