I have 2 year old twins who can recite, recognize & say ALL of their letters (some in lowercase as well, #’s to 10 & about 10 colors. I think it’s amazing, but I’m wondering if I’m biased. 🙂
Father of 3yr twin girls (and a member of Mensa).
I felt the same way when my girls, at two, were able to say the alphabet, count to 10 in English and Spanish (thanks, Dora!), recognize their colors, recognize shapes including pentagons and octagons, and one was beginning to draw recognizable letters.
Turns out, they aren’t far off of normal since there are a lot of other parents with the same stories. Some of their teachers still say they are exceptional, but I imagine they are a bit ahead of the norm because of the time that we spend with them at home on various ‘educational’ things like reading, art, counting, alphabet, writing, etc.
It sounds like you are spending a lot of time with your twins and are encouraging their learning. Keep at it! All three of you will reap tremendous rewards, and most of them are outside of the academic world.
At 2 my son knew the alphabet and could count to 10. He also started walking 2 days before he turned 9 mos. He is a bright child but his sister was the same except she didn’t walk until she was 13 months old.
Both my children knew their alphabet and my oldest could count to 15 when she was 2 and a half….I gues it is just how much you work with them!! But Good Job mom Keep it up my 3 and a half year old is reading some now…It is AWESOME their minds are sponges…Remember Readers are leaders!
That’s awesome! Who cares if it’s normal or not… this means that they’re probably gifted… it’s also good because if they can memorize these things then they’ll be doing incredible in school… keep up the good work!
no. a 2 yr old should be able to do SOME of that but if u are being 100% honest in your question it means you have a gifted child. congrats!
Of course you are bias! Although it sounds like your twins are leaps and bounds above the pack.
great job mommy!!!my daughter new all of the above plus where she lives phone # dads work etc.just keep on showing and they will keep on learning
not uncommon when you have been working with them, keep it up! The world can use more intelligent people!
Go brag to their grandparents.
It is still normal.
not really but maybe that means they will be really smart in school
