What do you think about Joel Osteen, Christianity, and money?

Do you think people pack his church to worship him and not God?

Do you think pastors should be living in Million dollar houses and driving Porsche’s (he has 2) when people are starving right here in America?

I only ask because Christianity seems like it is becoming a big business in America.

It’s a cult of personality, for sure.

No I don’t think rich rich “Church Leaders” is what Christ had in mind. (It’s one BIG reason I can’t go along with catholicism either!)

Seem like so many preachers are in it just for the money.

You’re right!
It’s called “the great apostasy” in the bible. Jesus our Lord pretty well calls it lip service and wise men these days call it “counterfeit Christianity”.
Twice in the Christ’s ministry He threw out the bankers and money changers from the Temple. Once in the beginning of His ministry, and again at the end of His ministry. They made a mockery of the sacrifices honest men and women came to give God. Jesus was fed up with them!
I am sure He is as fed up with those like the old money changers today as He was two thousand years ago. This type of ministering shows one and all whether you are a Christian or an atheist that; you have to use your brains when you hand your life over to the Christ. You have to really think about what you are doing in Christ’s name and you have to act on it on your own volition.
I think that ministering with this kind of attitude and wealth is a man or a woman living their lives as the “Tares” in the “Wheat” fields. When the angels come to harvest the crop those are the ones who are going to be gathered first, bundled up and thrown in the fire with the rest of the weeds.
Now I know that seems to be passing judgment on Joel Osteen, but what I’m saying is …. if Mr. Olsteen actually is living his life in a counterfiet manner, paying lip service and teaching the wrong way then he will be considered a “Tare” in God’s “Wheat” field.
Personally?
I don’t know, I only know what I see and that is not enough to pass judgement, it is enough to make an assesment, but not to pass judgement. Judgement I will leave to God.
As for big business Christanity? Yep! It’s running rampant through out the whole world, the good ole U. S. of A. is not the only nation suffering from this blight on the Christ’s teachings.
Don’t let it worry you too much, just use your brain in your service to our Lord and He will take care of the thieves and the liars amongst us.

Joel Osteen preaches a warm fuzzy feel good all of the time Christianity that makes people rich. Its not the gospel. If you read the gospels and then listen to Joel Osteen, you will see how he preaches a different Christ and not the one of the bible.

Matthew 7:20-23
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

The iniquity that Jesus talks about here is how many preachers in the past present and future preach another gospel of money, blessings, false doctrin, false prophesy, etc. etc. Have you seen some of those other TV evangelists? Like Robert Tilton, Mike Murdoc, who say God will bless you if you send me your money? He will pay you back ten fold if you plant a financial seed into there ministry. Many people fall for that lie and then are hurt from what they thought was real Chrisianity. Which is not.

Jesus did not come to make people rich. He came to save us from sin.

You are correct. Look at vid clips on Youtube of Osteen and be blown away from his lack of biblical training and understanding. Look at the news magazine type clips for his response to “hot topic” subjects.

Joel Osteen does not preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is part of the health, wealth in prosperity gospel movement which is in no way a Christian gospel.

Is there nothing in your life that is not talked about, is brushed under the rug, is denied vehemently when brought into the light?

Such is the truth. Christianity is misrepresented by the greater majority of those who call themselves Christian, but no one wants to admit it because then they would have to do something about Jesus Christ himself.

One day very soon God will be their judge.

Galatians 6:7-9

7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

i think olsteen is a good motivational speaker but thats about it…
