Marked ( Book 1) House of Night series by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast
In 16-year-old Zoey Redbird’s world, vampyres not only exist but are also tolerated by humans. Those whom the creatures “mark” as special enter the House of Night school where they will either become vampyres themselves, or, if their body rejects the change, die. To Zoey, being marked is truly a blessing, though she’s scared at first. She has never fit into the human world and has always felt she is destined for something else. Her grandmother, a descendant of the Cherokee, has always supported her emotionally, and it is she who takes the girl to her new school. But even there the teen stands apart from the others. Her mark from the Goddess Nyx is a special one, showing that her powers are very strong for one so young. At the House of Night, Zoey finds true friendship, loyalty, and romance as well as mistrust and deception.

Meanwhile, her reckless and adoring guardian angel, Zachary, demoted to human guise as the princess’s personal assistant, has his work cut out for him trying to save his girl’s soul and plan the Master’s fast-approaching Death Day gala.
Hi 🙂 I have similar taste in books and I have the same problem as you; I’ve read all of the books you’ve mentioned (except for The Forest of Hands and Teeth which I’ll read soon) and I just can’t find any books that are better or even as good as! I’ve seen a couples of books that look like they’d be quite good, but I don’t know until I buy them this weekend >.> Anyways, out of all those ‘meh’ kind of books I’ve seen these are just some books that have caught my interest: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa, Swoon by Nina Malkin, Shadow Hills by Anastasia Hopcus, and I’m trying Tithe by Holly Black (only because that author is good friends with my favorite author…) I hope this helps you, but my search for a great book to read this holidays continues. I really hope these books will be a good read, at least *fingers crossed* 🙂 P.S. Your a TMI and ID fan so I guess you’ve heard the movie news too! How exciting 😀 I only found out just then…
Read Dracula by Bram Stoker, and currently, I am reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.
Marked, The Blue Bloods Series, The Vampire Academy. Those are all crap. They are probably just as bad as Twilight.
I shouldn’t even waste my breath mentioning Vampire Diaries. And the name “Sookie Stackhouse” makes the book so ridiculous sounding that I don’t even want to mention it.
Anita Blake is crap though. Laurel K. Hamilton cannot write.
The Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris
The Cassie Palmer series by Karen Chance
Both seires have action, humor, and romance. (a good combination in my opinion)
Sookie is a barmaid who is a telepath. She can read the minds of humans but not vampires. In this series, vampires have come “out of the coffin” due to the Japanese creating synthetic blood (True Blood). It’s so good, HBO has created a series based off the novels called “True Blood.” This series has vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, and other mystical creatures.
Cassie Palmer is a psychic. She grew up raised by some not so nice vampires. She escapes, but now she’s on the run because they are hunting her. She gets into quite a bit of trouble and does make some interesting allies.
The links below are to the author’s web sites. I recommend checking them out.
I personally loved The Blue Bloods series by Melissa De La Cruz. It’s categorized as a Young Adult book but I think it was very mature with the story lines and the writing style. I am anxiously awaiting book #4 which I think comes out in the Fall.
Låt den rätte komma in (Let the Right One In) by John Ajvide Lindqvist. It’s Swedish but has been translated. The movie was amazing.
Marked, The vampire trilogy
Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite
