My 9 month female Chihuahua, nipples are swollen and her vagina is swollen and a little bit red…..?

My grandmother is very experienced because she used to raise Great Danes….but anyway were going to breed her with my other males Chihuahua…….I didn’t ask her about my dog yet but 4r yall, is my dog going in heat??????

Yes. Have her spayed, now, to prevent ‘accidents’.

You clearly aren’t knowledgable or experienced enough to be breeding, so either have both your male and female neutered and enjoy them for the pets they are, or hand them over to a shelter or breed rescue so they can be rehomed with someone who won’t be tempted to use them for money-making.

It does sound like she is goign into heat however you should not breed her this young. I don’t mean to be disrespectful but there is a very big difference in breedeing chihuahuas and great danes.
You shouldn’t breed her until her second heat. also due to the size of chihuahuas you should make sure that the male is either smaller or the same size as the female and not only him but go back several generations ( at least 3 but better 5) tomake sure of the size in the background.
You do realize that chihuahuas often have to have c-sections and can have a lot more complications than a dane.
As I said I am not trying to preach but I raise chihuahuas myself and my sister has bred her greatdanes a few times.

If your grandmother is so experienced, I’m sure she’s told you that the absolute youngest you can breed a dog is at 2 years of age, right? I hope that you keep those dogs away from eachother for the next year and a half, so you don’t have any accidents.

OR you could spay/neuter your dogs and not have to worry about it at all.

Just saying that your grandma is experienced with great danes isn’t going to make us think you’re any less of an irresponsible, uneducated BYB.

If your grandmother is very knowledgeable she will have told you your dog must not be bred until at least 2 years of age after she has done her conformation and had genetic testing.

She probably is going into heat, but if you breed her so young the best you can hope for is having to hand raise the pups. At worst she could die then you will still have to hand raise the pups.

Make sure she is kept well away from your males at all times. The last thing you want is for her to get pregnant so young.

As the others have said it’s best all around to have her spayed AND your males neutered.

She needs to be spayed.

There is no reason for you to breed her. Is she of a champion bloodline? Will you show her or run her in field trials? Will you have her health tested before breeding? Same goes for the stud.

Do you know what your doing? No, you don’t even know that she is going into heat.

Stop using your dogs as vending machines to turn a quick buck. There are already 3-4 million dogs euthanized every year in the U.S. because of overpopulation. Only 1 in 8 puppies will spend their first birthday in a loving home – only 1 in 20 kittens. The rest will die on the streets or in shelters or be beaten and tied up in backyard left lonely and unstimulated. Don’t contribute to the pet overpopulation with irresponsible breeding.

Spay and neuter.

Yes she is in heat, but for goodness sake do NOT breed a 9m old Chihuahua, she is far too young yet to have a litter safely. Wait until she is a least 2y and seen a vet to screen for any health issues that could mean she is not a breeding candidates first.

Your grandmother should know that breeding at 9 mos of age is very dangerous. It sounds like she is in heat, but I would keep her away from any males until she is at least 2 years of age.

jeez. u dont seem to know anything about the breed. chihuahuas are a difficult breed. i have had one for a week! if you dont know when your dog is going into heat you shouldn’t breed. by the way….yes. she’s going into heat.

yes. You should get her spayed. too many puppies are being born. save a life.

yup, she is already there, just watch her until it is over andthen have her fixed if you don’t want puppies, good luck, Watch her closley
