As Christians are you worried about the world ending in 2012?

I used to be but after examining the Bible I’m not anymore. The Bible says that only God knows the time and date of these occurrences. I doesn’t say anything about God and a select few people called the Mayans know the time and date. I was just curious what other Christians views are on this. Thanks!

It won’t end then,

No.

The 2012 end of the world scenario is a purely secular and Pagan hoax. No responsible Jewish, Christian, or Muslim leader supports any of the “prophecies”.

One of several Mayan calendars is the Long Count calendar, which is reset to day 0 every 1,872,000 days or about 5125 years. The next reset date, by some calculations, is December 21, 2012. This is not a prediction of the end of the world. Here is what a Mayan elder says on the subject: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopi…

These predictions are scare tactics, conspiracy theories, and chances to make money from books and movies.

Ever since the Y2K and 6/6/6 (June 6, 2006) End of the World scenarios did not pan out, the scare mongers, conspiracy theorists, book sellers, and television executives have been touting the 2012 End of the World scenario. When 2012 does not happen either, I am sure they will think of something else.

• The End of the World •

“But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come.” (Mark 13:32-33)

Jesus told us in no uncertain terms that we were not to know when the end of the world would come but that we were always to be ready.

The early Christian Church thought that Jesus was going to return at any moment. Only after a couple of centuries did the Church realize that it may be 2,000 or 4,000 or 8,000 years before Jesus returns.

The Catholic Church wisely follows Jesus’ advice and teaches that each of us should live as if we will meet our maker in the next ten minutes and that we need to work to make the world a better place for our 100 X great-grandchildren.

Do not worry about the end of the world. Trust God to make sure everything happens to plan. Just be ready to meet God at any time.

With love in Christ.

I’m mostly worried about the world not ending in 2012.

no, why ?
There are quite a few prophecies yet to happen before the end comes and one of them concerns the Anti christ who will rule the whole world for 7 years..although he was in the world as of 2009, he hasn’t yet entered upon the world stage. actually I feel possibly the next biggest event to happen will be when Jesus Christ returns for His people..
For just after He takes His people out, the anti-christ will command everyone, to take the Mark of Nimrod upon the right hand or just under the hairline..this mark is also known of in the bible as the Mark of the Beast.
The return of Jesus Christ will be loud like thunder and the voice of an archangel.
The dead in Christ, shall rise first then we who remain will be caught up into the clouds, changed in the twinkling of an eye, from mortal to immortal, and so we shall be with the Lord forever…1 Thessalonians 4:17…So whatever happens in it is God’s hands

Of course not.

The Mayans wrote in a secret hieroglyph that we know very little about. All calendars end, it just happens that the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012. Big deal.

Only God knows the way the world ends.

What exactly does the world ending specifically in 2012, have to do with being a Christian?

No not at all.

Before 2012 we have Oct 21st 2011 to deal with. Once that nonsense is over than we can start with the 2012 garbage until it comes and goes!

I would invest more concern in the world ending today. Does it mean that it will? No. That isn’t the point. We should be on our toes awaiting His arrival at any given time. This isn’t because He is arriving today, tomorrow or any other specific day that we can name. It is more a matter of being a living, breathing example of the Christian faith. Undoubtedly, we all stumble. Nonetheless, none of the things of the world are promised to us.

I’m not a Christian but I know that only the Most High knows when this world will end, not people!

I am Christan and this is what I think-I think as human beings we fear things like the world ending so some humans will seek out other beings to worship and to try to gain things like being a immortal or try to determine when the world will end so we can supposedly avoid death. !satan is a evil being that will influence mankind away from God. I feel God speaks the truth about things and satan will inspire cultures that will try to hide his lies.

No, not worried.

But there’s nothing saying that God didn’t tell individuals about it at some point. Perhaps the Mayans were right? We’ll know in a year or so…
